Horizon state project, located in Melbourne, seeks to transfer voting to blockchain in new democracies. The concept is simple: on blockchain votes are registered surely and cannot be reversed, accidentally doubled etc. It excludes any possibility of falsification. Besides that, no government or particular organization can be in full control of a decentralized platform.

The Horizon state team will provide its voting platform available on smartphones to community of Sumatra, Indonesia setting a use-case example to other states to implement DLT into their electoral processes. Experts claim that Indonesia suffers from lack of transparency so digital technologies can improve its democratic practices.
