According to Seattle Times, a utilities company in rural Washington has paused accepting applications for electricity from crypto miners. The Franklin Public Utility District commissioners (PUD) have approved a ban that will give time for the crew to inspect the influence of crypto mining on the electricity.
In April, another Washington public utility, Chelan PUD, imposed a ban on crypto mining due to the disclosure of illegal mining activities. The compulsory measures included fines and penalties.
Earlier in July, New York authorities approved a new electricity rate scheme that will allow to charge cryptocurrency miners more than other users.
