The World Economic Forum published a report, which lists more than 65 cases of blockchain use addressing environmental issues. In a report titled Building a Chain for the Improvement of the World, WEF singled out dozens of blockchain applications that can be utilized to solve ecological issues.
Among the possible applications there are platforms for peer-to-peer electricity trading with smart contracts, services for tracking the supply chain, and accounting carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, the WEF sees potential in launching crypto crowdsales to finance green energy projects and charity programs for biodiversity conservation.
According to the WEF, these initiatives are able to introduce new financing models in the sphere of environmental protection.
